Fashion Week in Milan 2013

YESTERDAY, Prada dictated that colour and jewelled embellishment will reign supreme next summer. At Fendi, Karl Lagerfeld disguised Cara Delevingne and Georia May Jagger in short black wigs, rendering them both unrecognisable, while Costume National returned to the schedule after a lengthy stint in Paris.

Today's key show is Versace - and what better way to spend a Friday night than by taking in the sparkling and provocative glamour of this Italian style stalwart? Donatella's women are always uncompromisingly strong, but how will they fare against the powerful muses that stormed Tom Ford's London catwalk earlier this week? Let the battle commence.

This weekend brings a mix of the two signatures best associated with Italian style. We'll be given beautifully cut, timeless and understated elegance from Bottega Veneta, Salvatore Ferragamo and Jil Sander, as well as colourful and celebratory flamboyance from Roberto Cavalli, Missoni, Dolce & Gabbana and Emilio Pucci. And let us not forget Marni, whose traditionally playful, yet controlled, show on Sunday is sure to spark a few trends come next summer.

Finally, watch out for Stella Jean on Saturday - she's the first womenswear designer to have been chosen by Giorgio Armani to show in his catwalk space. Her bold ethnic prints and voluminous silhouettes - along with Mr Armani's endorsement - have already made her one of the schedule's most talked about emerging names.
